Tagoria mIRC Channel

Hey,

Chatting the SB has been too quiet lately and the 60 second delay isn't much fun. So, it's been a while since I've used mIRC back in the day when I played Counter-Strike ritually and I was a CAL admin. mIRC is a chat program that runs on a server and can host tons of different channels. It's also used to transfer files on several deviant servers. I've set up a channel on:

http://www.gamesurge.net/

#Tagoria

That site will give you all the information you'd need to connect to the server. All you would need to do is find a mIRC client. They're pretty easy to search for such as BitchX, XChat, and Tracer are just some of what's out there. Some are what you call add-ons like Tracer in which you would have to download the bare bones mIRC client and get a key generater to make it legit and copy just the actual program into the add-on's folder and then you're ready to go.

I'm just trying to make chatting more "user friendly" and to get people involved in the game. If you have any questions you can message me in-game (DivineIntervention World-1 EN) or on here. Which i'm not to thrilled about this so called forum since I couldn't register my in-game name and support was no help.

Thanks,
DivineIntervention

Three things:

First, IRC is the server program and the network; mIRC is a particular IRC client for Windows.

Also, you're advocating piracy. Using a keygen doesn't make your copy of mIRC legit; it fools it into thinking it's legit, when you haven't actually paid to make it legit, which is against the law.

Fortunately, there are perfectly good clients that are totally free (in many cases free/open source software, as well as freeware), like XChat and BitchX, which you mentioned. (There used to be a good list at irchelp.org, but I think they've gone pretty out of date.)

Also, you should not have spammed this in (at least) 6 different sections. Just find one appropriate place to post once.

actually IRC is the protocol; the server program might be called something else and all servers that serve the same network (efnet, undernet, dalnet, etc.) are part of that IRC network. agreed on all other counts.

Well, I apologize for copying to all worlds and I'm not trying to promote "piracy".

I don't know how many people browse other world's posts and every time I've looked at the forum there seems to be nothing new. I'm just trying to help people connect in other means than a forum or sb. I'm more or less trying to help people get their questions answered in a timely and friendly manner and revive this donation dominate entertaining text based game.

You're right, the program is usually called ircd (or <something>-ircd, or similar, but annoyingly at least two of the major networks have their own forked versions and didn't botherto change the name).

You told people to download and run a keygen so they could use a commercial program without paying for it. If that's not piracy, what is?

Probably very rarely. That's where there are other sections of the forum, not specific to each world, where people post things that are not specific to any world.
